Dexter Ann Arbor Races Highlight the Weekend
June 4-5, 2016- Steve Schlaack opened up the weekend with an easy run at the Healthy Planet, Healthy People 5k race in Cleveland on June 4. He is looking forward to getting back to work to continue his fitness journey! On June 5, nine RCRC team members competed in the Dexter Ann Arbor 5k and half marathon. Jalen Weaver led the squad in the 5k running 17:39, which landed him in 5th place. Zach Caverley finished in 12th place in 19:19. Both runners placed in their age group. The main event of the day was the half marathon which ran from Dexter to Ann Arbor. Tom Windle led the team finishing with a personal best time of 1:13:09, which earned him a 7th place finish. Andrew Mangiapane, Andrew Benkovsky, and Greg Lutzke ran together most of the race until Mangiapane pulled away and ran 1:14:12 for 9th place. Benkovsky ran 1:14:35 and Lutzke ran 1:14:41 for 10th and 11th places. All three runners had personal best times. Alex Pollack was the next RCRC runner finishing in 19th with a personal best time of 1:18:47. Dom Reed (1:20:02) and Alex Miros (1:24:19) also competed. Miros is using this race as a tune-up for his marathon in three weeks. Congratulations to all finishers in both races!
