NICK EKEL

Nick graduated from Ovid Elsie High School in 2008, where he earned All League honors twice and All State honors his senior year in cross country and track.  While in college Nick earned All Conference honors and All Midwest Region honors in cross country competing for Saginaw Valley State University and also was an alternate to the US Junior Pan-American team on the track in the 10km.  After two seasons at SVSU, Nick transferred to University of Wyoming where he was a two time All-Mountain West performer in cross country.  On the track, he was the conference champion in the 10k his senior year and qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships before graduating in 2012.  In the fall of 2015, Nick ran his first marathon in 2:47, earning him the Boston qualifying time.  Nick’s personal bests were run at altitude and are 14:47 for the 5k (altitude conversion to 14:25) and 30:25 for the 10k (conversion to 29:26).After  the marathon Nick has not been able to train consistently and is looking to get back into shape and be pushed by his fellow RCRC teammates.  Nick is currently coaching at Southwestern Community College in Iowa.
